So it's yet another race weekend. If you've been to Bakersfield, you know that it's just a hop, skip, and a jump from one of the circles of hell. It's not only hot, but humid and generally crappy as well. Sure is pretty in the middle of nowhere though.
Once that sun gets a bit higher, it really starts heatin' up. Sunscreen of some form is necessary to say the least. Now, I tend to like to wear makeup at the races. No, I don't know why either. It's rather out of character for me. Anyways, I have a bag of makeup just for the races so I don't forget anything or use up all my good stuff. Unfortunately, it's beginning to seem like the good stuff is the cheap stuff I bought for the races. My new brand of choice is e.l.f. The most expensive thing from them that I have is $3. The whole pouch of makeup (including the pouch and blush brush), cost me just under $40. Now, for those of you who spend that much on eyeliner or whatever, you've already checked out because "how could something that cheap be any good?" For the rest of you, listen up. The concealer stick does a damn good job of covering blemishes, the tinted moisturizer is SPF 20 and has aloe and vitamins in it, and the clarifying pressed powder even everything out beautifully. I'm beyond stoked with the tinted moisturizer (it's my new glam sunscreen). I also have the contouring blush and bronzing powder duo which is just shimmery enough, but not "BAM! Lookit me!" Oh, and the eyeliner? Best ever. It goes on super smooth and stays on like you wouldn't believe. I'm in love with this whole line. For my lips I jumped ship though. My favorite lip stain is by N.Y.C. and I usually get red or pink. This time I opted for a maroon-ish color called champagne stain. It's pretty snazzy by itself, but thanks to working by the beach I have rekindled my love for zinc oxide. Yes, zinc freaking oxide. That goopy white stuff that surfers and lifeguards used to slather on their noses. If you remember Zinka, you know that it came in a bunch of different colors. There are other brands as well, but Aloe Gator is my favorite. Why? Because of aloe, duh. It's SPF 15 and has a crazy amount of awesome color.
Yes, the red looks pink. The pink was almost white and I just wasn't havin' it. So I decided to put this stuff on top of my usual lip stain (which I don't put anything on usually) and it was a fantastic result.
Now, I am not only freakin' glamorous, but I'm all sun protected too. This is the stuff lazy people dreams are made of. "Wait, you mean I can do one thing but get two results?! Sold!!" I'm super happy with the look of it all and I'm not getting crispy. I couldn't be happier and I suggest y'all give it a try.
